African Wisteria (Bolusanthus speciosus) bonsai soil? was created by PuchuKing33

Hello everyone,

My girlfriend got some African Wisteria (Bolusanthus speciosus) seeds, and luckily, they’re growing! I was wondering what type of soil is recommended for this wisteria? I’ve searched quite a bit for any kind of information regarding this bonsai, but there’s not much information available. Most of the information I’ve found is about Chinese and Japanese wisterias.

thanks in advanced

Soil choice should be based not only on species, but also care, climate, growing conditions and personal preferences.

Plants africa recomend equal parts of river sand, loam and compost.

Hmm. Outside in winter and inside in summer??

I would recomend the other way around. Outside in summer and inside in winter. It is hardy to usda zone 10-11 and will die if kept outdoors in northern europe winter.

Most of nortern europe is a lot wetter than the natural distribution of this species. I would go for less organics and more inorganic material in the substrate than recomended by plantz africa.
