I went to my local Goodwill today and picked up this kickin' glazed terracotta bowl-thing for $1.99. I got it home and drilled 4 holes in the bottom, put some screen in,added soil and a willow that was still in water. I wish I had something better looking for this "pot".

That is one gorgeous dish, Lance.
I luv it! I think that willow really suits the dish and will look fabulous once it has grown out a bit.
By-the-way...did you use the smallest then gradually larger bits to drill the holes with? Just ordinary drill bits for wood or for concrete?
Great work!

Hi Leslie,
I used a plain old masonry bit. I turned it upside down and drilled.

here's another willow. This one got knocked over last night during a storm. When I picked it up I realized that it had a big root ball already. I put it in another pot and staked it up. I have read that willows need to be re-potted twice a year. I know why now.

Yes...and I've heard that willow roots can do a number on your weeper bed if you have a septic system nearby. :S
What is the black colour at the top of the trunk, Lance?

The black is dead wood from where it was cut off the original tree. I think i'll end up carving it...if I keep this one. I still have 8 of them.
