Hmm, as for what style your tree should be... I personally would allow it to recover, wireless, and just grow a little bit. I would then look at where it grew, and determine it from that. One of my favorite quotes on here (and I apologize because I can't remember whose it was) is "I put my ear up to the protruding branch and heard... cascade style." Or something like that. Basically your tree knows what it wants, and if you wait for the tree, the tree will eventually tell you.
But that's just me, and I have been super-duper cautious since my mulberry tree forcibly defoliated itself. If you already have a style in mind, and know how you're going to accomplish it, then by all means push ahead! This is your tree, and I know you have it in you to make it look spectacular!

After the wire comes off the second branch I'll let it rest for the fall and winter.
Next spring I'm going to clip back the branches and wire them as they grow to create more movement. I just hope it back buds a little more.

Hi there. I've also just started out wiring my bonsai, very exciting. I would just like to know how long the wires should be kept on?
Keep well

The wires stayed on the branches for a few weeks. the leader stayed on for over a month. That was too long for this tree. The wire started to scar the trunk. The scarring is already starting to fade.
If you would like to know more about this (or any of my other) trees, follow my blog.

Hi Lance!
I apologise for not being able to answer your questions in an earlier post. I think the difference in height between the two bottom branches (as shown in your profile photo) is just fine! As for wiring the 2nd branch the same as the first I think this will create a nice balanced symmetry as the foundation of the foliage design as a whole. Each of the two bottom branches will sprout differently and give it it's own uniqueness. I'm amazed at how quickly the leader has grown!
How is the progression coming along with this one? Any new photos?

Here it is....where I started and where it's ending this year.
I must say that this trees branches took far less time to wire than I thought they would. I'm going to let the leader grow next year untouched to get thicker. the other branches I will continue to wire and clip.

Looking very nice, Mr. Lance!
Is this all you will do now with the branches until Spring?
