Hi there,
Recently I have discovered that my bonsai's trunk and some of the branches have turned, in some parts, white. Any reason for that?
Many thanks in advance!
Best,
Navot

Not sure what we are looking at. You need to be a bit more specific, what is this plant? where are you?

Hi,
Many thanks for your reply.
Sorry, tried to upload some more photos but this platform apparently restricts some specific formats so had to convert these.
Please see attached.
Our bonsai (boxwood perhaps) was bought a few weeks ago and recently we discovered some white areas in both the branches and now I happened to see that it's in the leaves as well.
Could it be powdery mildew? I'm based in Hong Kong by the way.
Many thanks

Not sure, have you tried rubbing it off? Could be mould of some sort, or an insect, it is difficult to tell. Try gently rubbing it to see what happens, use an old toothbrush maybe. I don't think it is much to worry about at the moment,

Box do not like direct sun, especially if it is very hot, so place it in shade, well watered and right now you need to prune all of the flowers off.
