Can anyone tell me if there is a certain time or season to do air layering?

The usual and best time is in early spring. In the northern hemisphere I am in UK., it is from mid February to early May. Any later and depending on species the roots will not be enough to remove that season. I did one on a Field Maple in early April and removed in early September.
