Advice needed for next re-potting ?????? was created by Glucamalacrino

Hello everyone! I was hoping someone could help me with these beautiful bonsai trees I have grown from seed!

I bought a kit from Garden Republic and have 3 baby plants in each pot x2.

I was about to put them in their own pots to make sure they have enough nutrients. I bought premium bonsai soil that looks more like rocks than soil. I also bought fertilizer pellets.

I began trying to repot but didn’t feel too confident. Can anyone advise on what next steps could be? Online seems divided…

Thank you!

Just separate your seedlings into separate pots in organic soil. Meanwhile remove the tap roots. Right now is not the right time, you need to wait until late winter or early spring 2025. As they grow uppot to bigger and bigger pots and sort out the roots.

Bonsai soil and fertilizer can wait util they are bonsai. Right now you are just growing seedlings.

If you are interested in bonsai, get a mature tree hardy to your area and start working on it. Most people that grow from seeds get bored by the hobby long before it is even starter material.

I just realized.....If you are in the nortern hemisphere, theese seeds germinated out of season. That indicates that you are trying to grow them indoors. The blue spruce is a cold temperate species and must be grown outdoors in usda zone 7 or lower. As soon as the risk for frost is over, put it outdoors and never take it back in again. First in full shade and then gradually over a 6 weeks period move into more and more sun.

No need for Bonsai Soil so far...

Most people I've seen sharing "Jacaranda Mimosifolia" on the internet, never achieve a Bonsai with the species.
It's not a easy species to deal with, they have huge leafs, don't ramify that easy, and are not that frost hardy, where they're native from, rarely goes a few degrees under 0°C...

So I think you should look for species that can endure your climate, and outdoors.
It's very cool to start by seed, but I agree that can be boring for a begginer, even more on a temperate climate, and lead them out of the hobby... Consider taking a look around for "pre-bonsai" speciments.
