Greetings;
So, I got this Ficus Retusa from a Nursery yesterday and the soil looks so compact. Soil is soaked with water, but, I am thinking that was for the travel it had to do. it was well wrapped, etc and in good shape. Have a few leaves dropping, but that is normal for the through the mail travel. I am just concerned that the soil is just so compact-is that any good for the roots? I welcome any advice.
Thank you,
Carol-I have attached pictures of the new plant.

Does not look in good shape to me.
If the tree was soaking wet at arival I would let it dry up fairly before next watering.
Ficus do like a much heavier soil than other species. As long as the substrate is holdig and draining there are no urgency for repotting. Just adapt watering to the soil until the tree is in full health and do the repotting then.
