All trees are ready for styling. What style work it is ready for depends on what final style and how long you want to spend to get there.

I would not do anything right now. But If you want to change the mowement of the trunk by wiering that can be done now or a few years into the future.

If you are in the nortern hemisphere and have summer now, it is season for growth, not season for any big styling work.

I was thinking of maybe doing a cascade. Do you think it would be a good cascade. If not what style.

If this was my tree i would wire the trunk and bend and contort it as much as possible and let it grow. When new branches/leaders grow in and the trunk tickens I would decide on what style to go for. But if the trunk is brittle Just do minor bends but try to make it more compact.

This tree is very young. It can become any style given time. But, yes, cascade is always a good option for junipers.

I made some trunk movement and got the tree ready for some taper. I figured out how to do the taper thing.

You want to make it a cascade, but you removed all branches that could be used for cascading branch? Now that is not any option anymore. Frankly, there are not much options left at all.

We have all done it at some point. Itching beginner fingers just want to do something bonsaiisch to the tree. But bonsai is a maraton, not a sprint.

Now, please stop. Do absolutely nothing more for a few years and read up on bonsai styling. Make a long term plan for the tree. But most important, put it in the shade and focus on recovery.

Please update on the status of the tree in a year. If it is still living or not.

Oh no I’m not done, I just wanted to make movement in the trunk. I decided that the way the trunk is I shouldn’t do a cascade so I wired the trunk and trimmed off the branches that weren’t needed. I looked at styles and decided on a Moyogi style. I am fertilized it a couple months ago and I will continue to water it and let it grow and thicken the trunk.
