how to thicken my trunk?

will leaving my tree in the nursery pot for one season help thicken the trunk? Any tips for thickening trunks would be super helpful!

The more volume of soil the tree gets the faster it thickens.
The more foliage it have the faster it thickens.
More sun and fertilizer also helps.
