Hello! Welcome.
That's a good start Kips, my only sugestion at this point is research, watch some videos, research about best species for your zone and begginer friendly, if you have a yard, with space to grow it on the ground, it might be good to have some on the ground, trees develop way faster, so take a look on "field growing" bonsai...

Thank you that is exactly the type of advice I was looking for I have kind of poor ground soil in my area but obviously I could add some better soil to the mix when ground planting again thank you
