thank you, i just need to work on reducing all the pad sizes and work the jin up top. Considering we get extreme heat here i experimented with a soil mixture of about 80% akadama and 20% organics to hold some moisture and it seems the tree is loving it.

considering just repotting 2 months ago and tree seems to be showing good health, when would be a good time to do some pruning to start reducing pads? or should i wait?

I would wait a little more, till it starts to slow down for summer, then prune it (if it's not a hard prune, of course).

managed to squeeze in some pruning/ wiring this weekend. still need some back budding on the top branches closer to the trunk so i can reduce the top pads.

well did end up having a baby last year and never got around to pruning any trees and this one really shows it so as to before i needed the pads to fill in now i have to thin them out to proportionately match the tree.
